The State Cup tournament is sponsored by the Idaho Youth Soccer Association (IYSA). The tournament is held annually over the Memorial Day weekend in May at sites around the state of Idaho. Past locations for the State Cup tournaments include Boise, Coeur ‘d Alene, Idaho Falls, Pocatello and Twin Falls.
State Cup is open to Idaho teams in the U13 to U19 age groups. Occasionally, U12 teams have been permitted when Idaho is the host of Far West Regionals. State Cup games for the U18 age group are typically played the previous weekend in conjunction with Director’s Cup due to high school graduation conflicts.
State Cup is the first leg of USYSA’s national championship. Winners of State Cup advance to the Far West Regional tournament held in June to compete against the other state champions from the 14 western states. Star Cup runners-up typically advance to play in the Far West Regional President’s Cup.
State Cup is the highest level tournament in the state of Idaho. Participation is open to all certified USSF referees in Idaho and we try to get a balance of referees from all parts of the state. However, because of the nature of the competition, prior referee experience in competitive club matches is expected. The minimum age for referees is set at 13.
Current USSF certified referees from outside of Idaho may also participate in State Cup on a select basis. Out of state referees must have a current USSF registration, complete the tournament referee registration form and have their state SRA or SYRA confirm their good standing and that they have passed a criminal background check within the last two years. Once all of these items have been completed, we will notify you of your status for working at State Cup. If you have any questions about this requirement, please ask.
All referees should also note the requirement for an ArbiterPay account. State Cup referees are paid exclusively through ArbiterPay. Instructions for setting up an ArbiterPay account can be found in the support section of Arbiter Sports.
If you have any questions about working as a referee at State Cup, please send an email to the assignor, Albert Padley at email@example.com.
